WORKOUT GOAL: RECOVER NERVOUS SYSTEM AND INJURY PREVENTION CORRECTIVE EXERCISE
CLASS PILLAR RATINGS:
• Cognition 1
• Breathography: NASAL BREATH 4:8 (INHALE 4: EXHALE 8)
• Impact 0
EQUIPMENT: (NOTE: you can absolutely do this workout with NONE of the below equipment. If you want to use just your bodyweight, grab a hand towel to hold for creating resistance on the upper body with these moves!)
1. AbRibbon
2. Theraband LIGHT (I am using the theraband CLX that has loops on the end, but you can create these loops by tying loops on 2 ends of a long theraband!)
This short class is meant to be performed immediately before or immediately AFTER a high intensity exercise session. It accomplishes 3 goals:
1. Recovers your respiration
2. Recovers and retunes your autonomic nervous system
3. Improves the endurance of the following injury prone muscles/joints: posterior tibialias and shoulder rotator cuff
PLEASE CAST YOUR GAZE ON THE FARTHEST POINT AWAY FROM YOU AND TAKE IN AS MUCH OF THE ENVIRONMENT AS YOU CAN.
By doing this, you are strengthening your panoramic view (vs the oppositional focal view, which we are using the majority of the day by staring at our phones or computers). The panoramic view is associated with the parasympathetic nervous system, so you will upregulate a strong sense of calm by finding the farthest tree outside your window or the farthest door down a long hallway.
There is a strong Tai Chi influence in this series as the “working in” of Tai Chi helps to counteract the effects of “working out”, supporting a balanced system as you move through the Hypoxix workouts.
By shifting your point of view (visual), you can shift your point of view (mood + energy).
